The San Diego Coronado Bridge

Visiting or planning to visit San Diego? Then this is a total must.
The San Diego Coronado Bridge. It's one of the major landmarks of San Diego, crossing the San Diego Bay. This 3,5 km bridge first opened up in August Third, 1969. It's well known and remembered for it's beauty although it looks even more wonderful at night time, the bridge is still enjoyed by many. This bridge ascends from Coronado at a 4.67 percent grade before curving 80 degrees toward San Diego. The span reaches a maximum height of 61 meters, allowing shipments and other types of boats pass by under it. It is made out of 20 000 tons of steel with 13 tons being actual structure steel and 7 tons being reinforcing steel. In 1970, it won the Most Beautiful Bridge Award from American Institute of Steel Construction, which sort of fully speaks for itself. But beauty doesn't come cheap, this huge bride costed around 50 million dollars to build.
Aside from it's beauty, this is the third deadliest suicide bridge in all of USA, trailing only after the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the Aurora Bridge in Seattle.

The ones that got away

Since my two cousins live here closeby, maybe a 26 minute drive, we had scheduled up a time to meet. What's it been? 5, 8 years? When we were smaller our families used to hang out alot, so yeah, we were pretty close. Then the same old, usual story came and went. Their father worked within some international business and had gotten a major job oppertunity along with a promotion. They gratefully accepted it and moved over there super fast. All of a sudden we never met eachother anymore, alomst didn't even contact eachother any longer. One of them had seen a post about me being here and they contacted me right after. i had would ofcourse try to contact them, infact i found that to be on my to-do list but so far down that i couldn't even recall it. I actually looked forward into meeting them once again, i mean after all we had a lot of recapping to do. I talked to them on the phone, telling them i would just do a few things first before heading to them. It was all basic stuff nothing special or remarkable really. On my way there i had alot of flashbacks and memories from the past, thinking of my childhood. I didn't really know what to expect from them. I had no idea if they were like back in the days in sweden or if they've changed to a more american behavior. When finally pulling up at the driveway they actually saw me comming and came out to greet me. Lots of long, tight hugs and the infinite telling of how long it's been and how much you've changed. The same old ditto. My two cousins were Micheal and Leah. Judging from their greetings i can tell they've stayed pretty much the same. It felt good to know that no major refinements were have to be done. We basicly just chatted and told stories. You know, the classic reunion rutines. We surely had a great laugh and enjoyed our presence.

It's a new day!

The sun was sparkeling, the birds were singing, the kids outside were playing and i woke up all awake without any feel of tiredness which you often get, like every regular damn morning. I grabbed a slow, steady and great breakfast, just simply rejoicing every secound that pasted. After a little mornign stretch, i decided to take on the beautiful streets just shimmering right at me and go for a little trip around in the inviting weather.
On my journey i came across alot of different shops (of course) i really wanted to check pretty much every single one of them out but that would take way to much time. i decided not to actually enter any store, but there was one shop, not sure what kind, that looked really interesting and crowded. I went up to it and it turned out to be one of the better candy shops of San Diego. Cousin's Candy Shop! It's a very popular shop, not too big though! i decided to go and try something in there that they had to offer. The range of all the options were wide, plus it tasted god-like. Way better than anything candy i've tasted in Sweden. No wonder this place is crowded. I had actually heard alot of people talking about this place a little here and there and that could maybe have had me subconciusly end up there, who knows? But i really got to hand it to them though, the candy was actually really good and If you like your candy shops to be good, old-fahioned joints where you're picking up some incredible handmade goodies in a storefront that makes you think of your childhood, then this is the shop for you. Other than that, i had an awesome day. Hope to have more of this.

Chargers!

I am going to meet some relatives in a few days so i had myself go to some stores looking for a few gifts. It wasn't as blood-pumping as i thought it would but whatever, it had to be done. For my own sake aswell. On my way back from a store, i went through the main hall, checking for some diner or something in that style. Whilst passing by i got asked to stop by a man and a woman all trying to convince me to fill in a huge survey about foods. "Take one minute of your time for the sake of improvement".  A minute of my day, my ass. More like thirty minutes. I was busy trying to get to the Qualcomm Stadium to watch the San Diego Chargers in the NFL, i had no time to fill in some survey or anything at all. I was kinda running late and had like 28 minutes to get there, tops! It was a match up against Tennessee Titans. A really entertaining game i gotta say, glad i chose to go there after all. And "we", if you wanna put it that way, won the match with it resulting in a 38 to 10 win for the San Diego Chargers! Not alot in Sweden can compare to the things there are in here, everything is alot bigger and there are so many oppertunities and things to do.

The stadium was huge! The Qualcomm Stadium seats 71294 people and covers over 5 million square feet and has 19240 parking spaces. I had a good view even though i didn't have the best spot.
